Is Jeep Making a Plug-In Hybrid Renegade?
Posted on December 27, 2018
The Jeep Renegade is a sporty subcompact crossover SUV with the
perfect combination of sophistication and off-road capability. With its newly
updated look, the 2019 Renegade provides an up-to-date driving and riding
experience no matter where the road takes you. Also, good news, eco-warriors!
In a couple of short years, the Jeep Renegade will be even more environmentally
friendly than it is today. That's right, the rumours are true. Here is the
latest information on the Plug-In Hybrid Jeep Renegade.
Production
The Jeep Renegade Plug-In Hybrid will be produced at the Fiat Chrysler
Automobiles Melfi plant, which is located in the southern part of Italy. The
Jeep Renegade Plug-In Hybrid is one of the many different models manufactured
by Fiat Chrysler Automobiles that will begin using electric, plug-in, or
conventional hybrid driving systems.
The exterior, interior, and other features of the Renegade Plug-In
Hybrid will be based on the current Jeep Renegade models that are already on
the market today. The great Jeep experience that's been a mainstay for so many
years will still be the same. The only differences between the standard Renegade
and the Renegade Plug-In Hybrid will be, of course, the engine and the fuel
economy. In addition to the Renegade Plug-In Hybrid, Jeep is also working on a
plug-in hybrid version of the Wrangler.
Cost
Fiat Chrysler Automobiles will be investing at least $10 billion,
but probably more, into its plug-in hybrid vehicle electrification efforts over
the next few years. This massive cost is necessary for the company in order for
them to comply with targets for emissions set by the United States. Fiat
Chrysler Automobiles is also working on decreasing the use of diesel engines in
their vehicles. Sustainability can certainly be expensive, especially for
auto-makers, and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles is proving that they will pay any
price to give their drivers an environmentally friendly and reliable vehicle.
Expectations
The current plan is for Jeep to create at least eight Plug-In
Hybrid models for the automobile market between now and 2022. The final
variation of the Jeep Renegade Plug-In Hybrid is expected to enter the market
early in 2020, so not too much longer before you can reap the benefits of
advanced hybrid technology in a Jeep.
Drivers can expect the same durability and utility that comes
standard with owning a Jeep, and as a bonus, a more eco-friendly riding and
driving experience. Who says driving an environmentally-friendly vehicle can't
be fun, exciting, and reliable? Fiat Chrysler Automobiles is proving that
making them can be good business as well.
There isn't a ton of information on the new Jeep Renegade Plug-In
Hybrid, but it certainly is no longer a rumour. The Jeep Renegade Plug-In
Hybrid is absolutely happening in the next couple of years and should excite
environmentally-conscious drivers from around the world. In the meantime, the standard version of the 2019 Jeep Renegade can handle any
task you throw at it while you wait for the hybrid version.
