Jeep Grand Cherokee Hellcat Will Arrive in 2017
Posted on February 2, 2016
Fiat-Chrysler has confirmed that a 707-horsepower Jeep Grand Cherokee is due to arrive before the end of 2017. CEO Mike Manley broke the exciting news about the vehicle earlier this year, which is rumored to feature the same 6.2-liter HEMI V-8 as other Hellcats currently on the market.
The Hellcat motor is already found in the Dodge Challenger and Dodge Charger, both of which have been praised by lovers of fun-to-drive, powerful muscle cars. The arrival of such a powerful motor in a Grand Cherokee is welcome news for Jeep fans, who have been eagerly awaiting the arrival of a Hellcat version since it was first rumored back in 2014.
The official name of the powerful Jeep Grand Cherokee is still yet to be determined, however. Rumours are floating around that the vehicle could be branded as the Jeep Hellcat, or even the Jeep Trackhawk (or Track Hawk), both of which have recently been trademarked by Fiat-Chrysler. The price tag for the Jeep Grand Cherokee Hellcat will likely start at around $79,999, making it a bargain compared to similarly-powered vehicles.
Reportedly, this version of the Jeep will come with an improved all-wheel drive system, a “beefed up” transfer case, along with many other improved driveline components. It’s also going to be very fast – reports confirm that the SUV will have a 0-to-60 mph time of 3.5 seconds. When the Hellcat debuts, it will likely be the fastest SUV on the market, especially when compared with the Range Rover Sport SVR at 550 hp, or the Porsche Cayenne Turbo S at 570 hp. The current leader when it comes to power is the Mercedes-AMG G65, which boasts an impressive 621 hp.
So, how will this Jeep hold up to Edmonton’s tough winters? While it will be designed primarily as a street performance SUV, a Jeep Cherokee is really Edmonton’s perfect vehicle - its horsepower and 4 wheel drive should offer excellent performance for commutes and off-road adventures alike. In traditional Jeep fashion, the Hellcat will be able to tackle even the most the most challenging road conditions with ease. For those looking for a super-fast, luxury SUV, the Jeep Grand Cherokee Hellcat is a welcome addition to Jeep’s lineup.
