6 End-of-Summer Activities in Edmonton

6 End-of-Summer Activities in Edmonton

As summer
comes to a close, it is important to get in as many fun activities as possible.
Fortunately, there are plenty of things to do in Edmonton before the summer
rolls into autumn. Here is a short list of places to go and things to do in
Edmonton.

Visit Fort Edmonton
Park

The summer
weekends are full of activities at
Fort Edmonton Park. There are live shows that showcase
the early days of Edmonton, 4D movies on display, and fantastic food available
to munch on. The Fort also has the iconic steam train that takes riders on
adventures back in time. You can also wander the historic fur trading fort, the
settlement area, and the old city that was recreated to precise detail.

Check Out the Edmonton
Streetcars Shows

The
100-year-old streetcar loads up with passengers and takes them on a ride to the
top of the High Level Bridge. Upon arrival, riders are entertained by local
musicians as the sun sets over the North Saskatchewan River Valley. This is a
one-of-a-kind entertainment venue that has very limited seating available.

Head to Rock'n August

Starting on August 8, the Rock'n August festival is a celebration of cars and music! The yearly event started with the idea of creating a fundraiser to raise money for Diabetes Research. Visitors can check out over 850 amazing automobiles while rocking out to the sounds of 1950s-1960s music. If music and cars interest you, then check out a wholesome combination of both with Rock'n August.

Attend the Blueberry
Bluegrass Festival

What's
better than freshly harvested blueberries? Eating them while listening to
bluegrass music. Heritage Park in Stony Plains is home to the annual music
festival. For three days, August 4 through 6, you can enjoy the best of both
worlds. Along with listening to great music, there are other activities for the
whole family like a children's petting zoo, a pancake breakfast, meet-and-greet
opportunities, and camping.

See the Flowers

The
University of Alberta Botanical Garden is a place to see in the summer when the
flowers are blooming. One of the most fun evenings of the summer is the
Perseids Pyjama Party. On Friday, August 11, come dressed
for an evening of watching the stars. The whole family can enjoy the natural
fireworks in the sky. There are also plenty of reasons to visit when the sun is
out - like the Annual Displays that change as the summer turns to autumn.

Get on the River

Kayaking and
canoeing in the water around Edmonton is a great way to spend time with family
and friends. The North Saskatchewan River has plenty of spots for porting, and
there are also several places to rent boats for the day.

No matter
what activities you decide to do in the last moments of the summer, be sure you
get there safely. At Crosstown Chrysler Jeep Dodge, we have a wide variety of vehicles
that can get you where you need to go at a price you can afford.
