Edmonton's Hidden Gems You Have to Visit

Edmonton's Hidden Gems You Have to Visit

With just over 930,000 residents, Edmonton is a booming,
cosmopolitan metropolis that's among one of the most-visited cities in Canada.
While the tourist path has been beaten down, some travelers are learning how it
feels to live like a local. Sometimes the best things in a city are the ones
that aren't right in front of your eyes.

Bul Go Gi House

It's about the farthest thing from Canadian food, but if you need
to get your Korean fix,
head to Bul
Go Gi House
.
Since 1973, this unassuming, unpretentious hole in the wall has been Edmonton's
go-to place for the best Korean food in the city. Serving up authentic Korean
classics such as gyeran mari (rolled Korean omelette), kimchi jjigae (spicy
pickled cabbage stew), bulgalbi (sweet marinated ribs Korean-style), or the
eponymous bulgogi (thinly sliced marinated beef), Bul Go Gi House will take you
to the streets of Seoul without leaving the city limits.

Bul Go Gi House is located at 8813 92nd Street NW. It's open Monday
through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.

The Wildlife Underpass

Located underneath a busy stretch of Anthony Henday Drive, the
"Wildlife Underpass" as it's known by locals, is one of the coolest,
yet least popular attractions in the city. That isn't because it lacks
personality, but because it's not easy to access. It's just south of Rabbit
Hill Road, and if you park your car at the east end of Mullen Crest, it's still
a 7-minute walk.

The underpass is just a giant tunnel that goes under the freeway,
allowing animals to get from one area to the other without causing an accident.
Moose are sometimes seen going through the tunnel, as are other small animals.
In addition, the walls are covered with graffiti, giving off an interesting
artistic aura that's like your own personal art museum.

Junque Cellar

Tourist attractions aren't the best place to find gifts and items
for your home. These mass-produced trinkets, t-shirts, and other memorabilia
often find their way into the rubbish instead of your coffee table. The Junque
Cellar changes all that. This flea-market-type store has bizarre decor,
furniture, and other knickknacks that make your trip to Edmonton a worthwhile
venture.

You can find the Junque Cellar at 10442 82nd Avenue NW. Hours are
10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. on Friday, 10
a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.

Dadeo

Want a taste of the Big Easy, but don't have the money for a plane
ticket? Head over to
Dadeo New Orleans Diner at 10548A Whyte Ave. This local gem is
shrouded in New Orleans-style decor with a '50s diner vibe. Grab a po'boy, a
bowl of gumbo, or a slice of key lime pie for a taste of the American South.
Hours are Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m., Friday and
Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 11 p.m., and Sunday from noon to 9 p.m.

Whether you're searching for a taste from afar, the perfect gift,
or a local wildlife sighting, Edmonton's gems are guaranteed to keep your visit
interesting. It's also the perfect opportunity to drive that new car or truck you purchased at Crosstown Chrysler Jeep Dodge!
