Driving Test Tips - How to Make Left Turns

Driving Test Tips For Left Turns
Are you a driver who avoids making left turns by driving further in order to exclusively turn right on any road? If you are, that could jeopardize how well you do on your driver's test! One of the most basic driving test tips for left turns is to keep practicing them. It's best to practice left turns in a familiar setting on a two-way street, until you become comfortable with driving and turning on one-way streets. For left turns, slow down about half a block before the intersection you will be making a turn at. If you need to change lanes to turn left, do so at least 15 metres before the intersection.
Signalling will become automatic once you are an experienced driver, but while you are practicing for your driving test, be sure to signal approximately 30 metres (or one-third of a block) in a city, and about 100 metres if you are driving in a rural area.
Quickly look ahead at the intersection you will be turning left at, and scan for any pedestrians, other traffic or possible hazards. Turn your head to check left, centre and right at the intersection, and look carefully at the lane you will be turning into to check your planned travel path.
Right when you are ready to turn, enter the intersection until you are about one vehicle length back from the first available lane, keeping your wheels pointing straight ahead at that point. Then, yielding to any traffic and pedestrians, do a shoulder check on your left for cyclists or vehicles who might pass on the left side. As you turn into the first available lane, increase your speed gradually in a smooth manner. Steer hand-over-hand into your planned travel path and move with the traffic. Ensure that your signal is off. Following these simple driving test tips will help you to pass your driver's test.
