The 5 Best Edmonton Spots for Dessert
Posted on March 30, 2017
Sometimes you just need something sweet to end your day. Whether you like
chocolate or prefer something fruity and light for dessert, there are several
places you can go in the Edmonton area for a sweet treat. Try one of these
Edmonton spots for dessert the next time you are in town.
Dessert Island
Dessert Island is a hidden gem tucked away in Chinatown. It sits right next
to Fuqing Lanzhou Noodle on 10824-97 St. NW and is a small place with just a
few tables. The bakers make all the desserts to order, and you can even watch
while they do it. Make sure to try the mango supreme snowflake ice made with
fluffy shaved ice, topped with fresh mango, and drizzled with condensed milk
and coconut milk. They also serve egg waffle cones with ice cream.
Duchess Bake Shop
Duchess Bake Shop
at 10720-124 St. NW offers decadent cakes and other French-inspired desserts.
The Duchess' Macarons have an outside that crackles and a smooth
filling, and the shop's molasses cookie is delicious. The maple pecan pie
has a buttery crust with toasted pecans and maple syrup, and although this
sounds like it's just for one person, there's plenty to share. There is always
a line out the door on weekends so make sure you have some time to wait, but
the line moves fast.
Cheesecake Cafe
In downtown Edmonton, you'll find Cheesecake Cafe. The shop serves lunch and
dinner with a large selection of desserts to enjoy afterward. The menu includes
ice cream desserts, fruit tarts, and cobblers that you can order by the slice,
by the pie, or by the cake. The Cafe keeps its cakes on display so you can see
what you're getting, whether it is a pie or, of course, a cheesecake such as
the chocolate strawberry cheesecake or cheesecake with sour cherry topping. You
can also get the death by chocolate cheesecake or a chocolate chip cookie dough
for something extra decadent.
The Creperie
The Creperie on 10220 103 St. NW has a romantic atmosphere for a nice dinner
and an extra special dessert. The sweet crepes are delicious and indulgent.
Make sure to try the Crepe Glace Au Chocolat, which is a crêpe wrapped
around vanilla ice cream and then topped with bittersweet chocolate sauce,
whipped cream, and toasted almonds. If you want to have some fun, try the chocolate
fondue, or have their classic Crepes Suzette.
Block 1912 Cafe
While Block 1912 serves good food and drinks, the best reason to head here
is for dessert. The cafe offers a variety of options from panna cotta to
Grandma's confetti squares and raspberry creme brulee. Block 1912 also has
cookies, pudding, and eclairs. All the desserts are on display so you can get a
good look before you choose.
Try one of these Edmonton restaurants for dinner and dessert or just dessert
the next time you are in the mood for a sweet treat.
