Get Muscle and More With the 2019 Dodge Charger

Now in the ninth year of its seventh generation, the Dodge Charger didn't necessarily need any updates, but with a few tweaks and some enhancements, the Charger certainly feels refreshed for 2019. At its core, it's still the muscular, valiant muscle car that toys with the moniker of instant classic, but it's always nice to see that Dodge doesn't settle on the present. With tons of power and more, the 2019 Dodge Charger just might be a future collector's car.

What's New on the 2019 Dodge Charger?

The 2019 Dodge Charger trims its model count from nine down to five (SXT, GT, R/T, Scat Pack 392, and SRT Hellcat), but that doesn't mean it cuts out variety or amenities. Across the board, the Charger receives performance and cosmetic upgrades that make the vehicle more alluring than ever.

The exterior of the car receives an aggressive new grille with dual-air inlets. Larger 20-inch wheels are available on all five trims, along with new badging and an exclusive body kit for the GT and R/T models. New exterior paint colors are also available, allowing you to customize your ride to your liking. Inside, lower-end trims offer quality amenities, such as quilted Nappa leather, more 12-volt power outlets, and even heated seating and a heated steering wheel.

Performance specs also get some tweaks for better acceleration and overall giddy-up. Launch assist, torque reserve, and a Bilstein adaptive damping system create more grip, agility, and punch on the road, giving you even more opportunity to test the limits of the Charger. All-wheel drive comes to the entry-level SXT model for the first time, providing top-notch handling, even on the tightest curves.

Engine Options

You can't have a true muscle car without the underpinnings to back it up. That's why the Charger remains ahead of the game. The SXT and GT go with a 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 that offers up to 300 horsepower with all-wheel drive, as well as 260 pound-feet of torque. For more oomph, the R/T boasts a 5.7-liter Hemi V-8 capable of 370 horsepower and 395 pound-feet of torque.

A spirited 485-horsepower, 6.4-liter V-8 powers the Scat Pack, yet the Hellcat steals the show. Under the hood, a supercharged 6.2-liter V-8 delivers 707 horsepower, 650 pound-feet of torque, and a near 3-second zero-to-60 time that's guaranteed to get your heart rate jumping.

The Extras

Inside, the Charger gives the driver an even more amazing driving experience thanks to selectable steering modes. With normal, sport, or comfort mode, you can handle any terrain in your path. A class-exclusive 7-inch instrument cluster display lets you see the performance of the Charger, while an 8.4-inch touch-screen display navigates the Uconnect infotainment system. Ample room in the cabin and in the trunk provide a comfortable ride that won't leave you guessing who comes with you and who stays behind.

The 2019 Dodge Charger isn't quite the next generation of the iconic sports car, but it adds enough to features to make it relevant to even the most die-hard fans. For raw power and a vehicle that makes you feel cool or young at heart, there's no better option.
