Powertrain

The Hurricane 4 Turbo engine headlines powertrain updates for 2026. This 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder uses Turbulent Jet Ignition technology, igniting fuel in a pre-chamber above each cylinder before expansion into the main combustion area. This approach speeds up the burn process and improves fuel consumption compared to conventional ignition.

Output measures 324 horsepower and 332 lb-ft of torque, with 90 percent of peak torque available from 2,600 to 5,600 rpm. A variable geometry turbocharger adjusts boost delivery across different engine speeds, providing responsive acceleration and efficient cruising. The Hurricane 4 Turbo achieves an estimated range of up to 814 kilometres per tank and enables towing capacity of up to 2,812 kg (6,200 lbs). Engine assembly takes place at Stellantis' Dundee, Michigan, facility.

Base Laredo and Laredo X trims retain the 3.6-litre V-6 engine from previous model years. The Grand Cherokee 4xe continues with plug-in hybrid propulsion, delivering 470 lb-ft of torque. The Trailhawk trim, available exclusively with the 4xe powertrain, offers the lineup's best departure angle and highest standard torque rating.

Technology

The 12.3-inch infotainment system represents the primary technology advancement for this model year. It connects with smartphone platforms and provides access to navigation, streaming audio, and vehicle configurations. An optional 10.25-inch passenger display gives front-seat passengers independent control of entertainment and information functions.

Audio systems start with standard premium configurations and advance to a nine-speaker Alpine setup on Limited trims. Summit models feature an exclusive 19-speaker McIntosh system that places tweeters, mid-range speakers, and subwoofers throughout the cabin for spatial sound coverage.

Hands-free Active Driving Assist is available across the lineup, managing steering on compatible roads when conditions allow. Night Vision technology employs thermal imaging to detect pedestrians or animals beyond headlight reach. A 360-degree camera system delivers complete perimeter visibility during parking or slow-speed driving. An integrated off-road camera helps when navigating obstacles on unpaved surfaces. Grand Cherokee L models with three rows can be equipped with a rear-facing Fam Cam that shows backseat activity on the main display.

Traffic Sign Recognition and Intersection Collision Assist are now standard on Laredo Altitude trims, monitoring road signs and warning of potential intersection conflicts. A digital rearview mirror option replaces the traditional mirror with a camera feed, maintaining rear visibility when cargo or passengers block the standard view.
